Welcome to my CMALT Portfolio
I've put this website together for professional development. It contains my reflective portfolios for Certified Membership of the Association for Learning Technology (CMALT). CMALT is a recognised accreditation confirming my pedagogical and technical competence in using technology to support effective teaching and learning. The portfolio also demonstrates my awareness of ethical and strategic contexts, and my leadership and collaborative roles.
My 2023 portfolio received a 'strong pass' in all categories (though was said to be a tad long with excessive evidence). If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch.
ABOUT ME
I have been very fortunate. For me, education has been the key that opened the door to the world – literally. Through education, I have travelled to different countries, connected with people across continents, and questioned what I thought I knew. I've witnessed how education, in all its forms (not only academic), can give people agency over their own stories and help build the confidence to challenge, create, and contribute. In my experience, learning and sharing skills and knowledge are the foundation for self-determination, authenticity, and connectedness. As I see it, fundamentally, my job is to ignite genuine curiosity in the people I meet, enabling them to explore the world and make meaningful change, big and small.
EDUCATION
My background is in language learning and teaching, and I hold a BA in Spanish (with electives in teaching English) and an MSc in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). In 2022, I completed a PGCert in Digital Technologies, Communication and Education by distance learning to gain insight into the position and learning experiences of some of my students. The course challenged my beliefs about teaching and learning and has driven me to learn more about learning in different contexts, including online and in the workplace. Consequently, in 2023, I earned a CIPD certificate in People Management, including organisational learning, and in 2025, I completed an MSc in Psychology, which offered new insights into memory, attention, motivation and neurodiversity. This learning has further enriched my pedagogical practice and has influenced how I use technology to support teaching and learning.
MOTIVATION
I hope to gain and retain CMALT status for several reasons:
I endeavour to be a reflective practitioner, and the process of engaging in the portfolio-building process helps me to do this. I believe reflection is essential if I want to provide learners with the best education I can, and if I want to continue to develop as a professional.
CMALT is an internationally recognised professional status which will show colleagues and employers that I am serious about my work and am committed to my continued professional development.
I would like my work and learning to be formally critiqued and recognised by peers and employers as part of my CPD.
